As I was reading throughout the chapters I continually caught myself thinking about the same things over and over again. Things like: what is the importance of the house? Does it symbolize something throughout the whole story or is it just a minor chunk in the section reading? Also I was stuck pondering, why do boys think it's "cool" to make other kids or boys do things that they clearly don't want to do is it a status thing thinking their cooler than everyone else and have to tear others down. Who knows? In this weeks section reading I was the director of my group. Part of my role was answering a few questions to discuss with my group. One being my choosing two sections. My first section that I have chosen was on page nine in the book and it goes: "I never new how old mr. Radley made his living. I chose this one in piticular because to tell you the truth I have not a clue what this means. Is it suppose to say I never knew how mr Radley made his living? I don't know I was co fused readi g tha part. Another section I chose was on page 26 and this one goes:" little chuck grinned broadly. " there ain't no need to fear a cootie ma'am." I had chosen this one because I haven't heard that saying in forever don't fear a cootie. It brought back early childhood memories. In the story there is so many key points as the book starts off but personally the most important idea would be how the author explains every character in the story and their role in the town. Without this I would have had a hard time figuring who's who and their role in the story so far. The author did a good job with that, but I do have a question. Why don't the people in your story try to talk more or Try to hang out with the radleys. Instead they make judgements about that family.
We didn't have personal group disscusions this week but we did have an overall group discussion or demonstration. The group discussing should have tried to talk more, fill in the silent gals and allow everyone to talk not just two main people speaking.
In the story the kids are always picking on each other and not exactly helping each other to their strengths. They allow their friends way of life at home be their only way of life outside the home as well. This hits me the hardest because if we see something that needs to be handled we should help. Help others around you. Not worry on how people may judge you. In the story one boy doesn't have alot of food and supplies s when people see him they don't try to help as much their just like oh he's from that family so this is what he does. When really people should try hard to help each other and I should strive to think of others above myself more as well.
Good job on parts 1 & 3. Need to work on Literature Circle section and edit grammatical issues before publishing.
